SPRINGFIELD, OH (March 12, 2019) — Springfield City Commission will vote Tuesday night on a proposal to authorize an agreement with Box 27 Volunteer Fire Department Incorporated.
Box 27 is comprised of volunteers who provide support to Springfield Fire Rescue Division (SFRD).
“The work that Box 27 does is invaluable, both to the Springfield Fire Rescue Division and to the community,” said SFRD Chief Brian Miller. “They serve the division and the public well, and we couldn’t be more proud of the work that they do.”
Box 27 provides food, water, and other supplies to firefighters throughout the year. Among their primary forms of support is replenishing breathing air for firefighters’ Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) during operations and training. They provide support to firefighters when they’re answering calls and are also active in the community with fundraising and other support efforts.
City Commission meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the City Hall Forum.
