City Manager Helps with Final Touch on Holiday Tree

SPRINGFIELD (Nov. 11, 2019) ─ Boosting oneself 40 feet up to trim a tree may sound like a tall order, but Springfield City Manager Bryan Heck was equal to the task Wednesday afternoon.

Heck pitched in to help Duane Sims, Springfield City Service Department, put the final touches on the grand Christmas tree overlooking the downtown esplanade. More than 200 strings of lights were draped around the tree since its arrival downtown on Nov. 15.

This year’s tree was donated by a private citizen. Kapp Construction and CNS Tree Service assisted the Service Department with the tree’s delivery and installation, while Springfield Police Division officers and Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies helped with traffic.

The tree’s official lighting will take place during Holiday in the City on Saturday, Dec. 7.
