In response to recent comments regarding a 2014 Resolution, the City of Springfield would like to reiterate that we are not part of the Welcoming America “Certified Welcoming” network of communities. Membership in this network requires a formal application process and a fee of up to $12,000, followed by an evaluation and official designation from Welcoming America — a process the City has not undertaken.
Springfield welcomes legal immigration efforts consistent with federal laws and policies. The City will continue to comply with all laws and regulations established by the federal government. Our commitment to respecting and upholding federal law remains steadfast.
