SPRINGFIELD, OH (January 30, 2019) — The City of Springfield will open a warming center for a second day on Thursday as more frigid weather settles in.
The warming center will be in the community room from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the National Trail Parks and Recreation District offices, 1301 Mitchell Blvd., on Jan. 31.
Officials will have coffee, hot chocolate and activities for those who need shelter from the cold.
A wind chill warning issued for the area earlier in the week remained in effect Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The wind chill warning continues through 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the NWS.
Residents are advised to dress in layers if they plan to be outdoors, to check on the elderly and keep pets inside, according to the NWS.
