The Neighborhood Impact Division provides fair housing support, neighborhood engagement, and plans for various federal funding program investments. The division is designed to meet neighbors where they are, regardless of circumstance, and work to assist in making plans and connections that move the community forward. The city of Springfield receives federal entitlement funds from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to improve low and moderate income neighborhoods and provide assistance to low and moderate income households in Springfield.
Members of the division work each day to plan for these federal funds investments through partnerships with other not for profit agencies and with other City departments. The group works to provide assistance in the delivery of creative and impactful public services, as well as housing improvements, and public infrastructure enhancements. To do this well, the division consistently is working with neighbors and neighborhoods to identify investment needs and plan for programming that is beneficial not only now, but into the future. The team is also responsible for the overall management and regulatory reporting that comes along with federal funds investments.
