While the City of Springfield’s water supply is lead-free, some older homes have lead pipes connecting them to the water system. If your property has a lead service line, you may qualify for our Lead Service Line Replacement and Financial Assistance program, which covers up to 50% of replacement costs (maximum $1,500 per property).
Lead service lines have two parts: the public side (owned by the City) and the private side (owned by the homeowner). The City of Springfield offers financial assistance to homeowners who want to replace their private portion. When you notify us that you’re replacing your side, we’re required to replace the City-owned portion as well.
