SPRINGFIELD (Nov. 7, 2019) The Springfield City Commission made two proclamations before its legislative meeting Monday night, Nov. 4.
The Commission proclaimed the week of Nov. 4-10, 2019 as Drone Safety Awareness week, urging citizens to recognize the Ohio Unmanned Aircraft Systems Center as they support the education mission of the FAA and highlight innovative drone safety initiatives throughout the week. There to accept was Fred Judson, UAS Director of the Ohio UAS Center. He was joined by City of Springfield Assistant City Manager and Director of Economic Development Tom Franzen and Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport Manager Seth Timmerman. City Commissioner Dave Estrop presented the proclamation.
City Commission also proclaimed November 2019 as Lung Cancer Awareness Month, encouraging lung cancer awareness as a public health priority and supporting advocacy work on behalf of lung cancer patients, those at risk for the disease, and those in our communities who are affected by lung cancer. There to accept was Charles Patterson, Clark County Health Commissioner, and Dr. Soumya Neravetla, Thoracic Surgeon. City Commissioner Rob Rue presented the proclamation.
City Commission met at 7 p.m. Monday in the City Hall Forum.
