City of Springfield – Community Beautification Committee

The City of Springfield’s Community Beautification Committee (CBC) invites residents, neighborhoods and organizations to help enhance the beauty of our community through two seasonal programs.

  • Plant flowers
  • Maintain the bed throughout the growing season (weeding, upkeep, etc.)

What the City Provides

  • A small sign recognizing the individual or organization maintaining the bed (at their own expense)

Home of the Week Program

Overview

Celebrate Springfield’s most beautiful homes during this annual summer program, running weekly for 12 weeks.

  • Start Date: First Sunday in June (June 7)
  • Duration: 12 weeks (June–August)

How It Works

Residents may:

  • Nominate their own home
  • Nominate another home they feel is deserving

Judging Criteria

The committee evaluates homes based on:

  • Overall property maintenance
  • A well-manicured lawn
  • Seasonal plantings and landscaping
  • Enhanced curb appeal

Recognition

Selected homes are featured as “Home of the Week” highlighting the pride residents take in maintaining their properties.

Homes featured as “Home of the Week” are in the running to earn “Home of the Year” at the end of the program.
