SPRINGFIELD (September 27, 2019) ─ Sometimes the glass slipper comes in the form of a cool pair of Skechers bedecked with pink smiley faces and shimmering glitter.
At Lincoln Elementary School Friday morning, dozens of volunteers found the shoe that fit for nearly 300 hundred Cinderellas as their fairy godmother, Kris Horlacher, realized a dream of her own: she supplied shoes and socks that fit for the 100,000th time in Springfield.
Horlacher is the Executive Director for Shoes 4 The Shoeless, a Dayton organization that donates gym shoes and socks that fit to area children in need.
At Friday’s event, Springfield City Commissioner Joyce Chilton was on hand to present a proclamation declaring Friday, Sept. 27, 2019 as “New Shoes Day.”
Springfield High School students and representatives of Assurant volunteered at the event.
