SPRINGFIELD (May 13, 2020) – The Global Education and Peace Network will hold the next installment in its Global Education Speaker Series, “Sharing our Roots: A Multi-Cultural Experience of Growing Up in India,” on Zoom this Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. with Dr. Akber Mohammed, a local cardiologist with the Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Mohammed was born and grew up in a very multi-cultural setting in India where he learned to speak multiple languages and interacted daily with people of many different religions and cultures. He will talk about his experiences in India.
For over 25 years, Dr. Mohammed has lived and worked in Springfield, Ohio with his wife Parveen and three children. Dr. Mohammed is a founding member of the Global Education and Peace Network and has been active with the group for the past 18 years.

The Global Education and Peace Network celebrates its 18th season with the speaker series, “Sharing our Roots: Growing Springfield Together.” Monthly programs will explore ways for local residents to practice kindness in their lives. The Global Education and Peace Network formed during City-sponsored study circles after the tragedy of 9/11. They seek to build bridges of understanding across cultural divides with their monthly speaker series and annual calendar.
