Person of Interest Sought in Wallet Theft

SPRINGFIELD, OH (August 1, 2019) — Police are searching for a person of interest in connection to a wallet theft from a parked car in the 2200 block of South Limestone Street on July 21.

A restaurant employee reported to police that she had locked her parked car and left a window slightly cracked. When she left work later that day, her wallet, which she left under the seat, was missing. The wallet contained cash, credit cards and identification.

Police obtained surveillance video taken from the parking lot showing a man entering the victim’s vehicle, taking the wallet and fleeing. He was driving a Chrysler minivan. Surveillance images were also obtained from another area restaurant showing what investigators believe was the same person shown in the parking lot video.

One of the victim’s credit cards was later used at a local gas station.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det. Joshua J. Haytas at 937-324-7714.
