Springfield, OH – The City of Springfield is excited to kick off its annual street sweeping program on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. This year, the city has partnered with Katsam to help keep our streets clean.
The street sweeping will take approximately three months to complete, with the entire city scheduled to be swept by July. To make this process as smooth as possible, only one side of each street will be swept each day, allowing residents to park their vehicles on the opposite side.
Important Parking Information:
- “No Parking” signs will be posted on alternate sides of the streets one day prior to sweeping. Vehicles parked in these restricted areas will be ticketed.
- Your cooperation in moving vehicles for the sweepers is greatly appreciated, ensuring that they can thoroughly clean the streets.
- Multiple sweeper passes may occur on the day of sweeping.
- Please note that bad weather may cause delays, and if this happens, parking restrictions will be reposted.
How It Works:
- Sweeping will begin in the Southeast quadrant of the city and progress counter clockwise through other quadrants until the entire city has been swept.
- In addition to this contracted program, city crews operate two street sweepers year- round, focusing on busy streets with high litter or pollution, where parking restrictions aren’t needed.
Why Street Sweeping Matters:
This program removes more than 600 tons of debris from our streets annually, helping to keep Springfield looking its best. It also plays a vital role in meeting Ohio EPA permit requirements for environmental protection.
