As of July 1, 2025, all City of Springfield municipal income tax payments and returns—for both current and prior tax years—must be processed through RITA. Services are no longer available at City Hall.
RITA is a government agency formed by Ohio cities and villages to provide efficient, centralized municipal income tax collection. This partnership allows the City to streamline operations, reduce administrative costs and offer expanded online tools for taxpayers.
Municipal income tax revenue supports essential City services, including Police, Fire and EMS, street paving, community development and economic development initiatives.
What Residents Should Know:
Residents are encouraged to file and pay their municipal income taxes using RITA’s online tools. The MyAccount portal allows taxpayers to file returns, make payments, enroll in electronic billing and view account history. For those who prefer not to create an account, RITA also offers FastFile and FastPay options that require no login. Paper forms are available at www.ritaohio.com.
What Businesses Should Know:
All City of Springfield employer withholding taxes must be remitted to RITA. Businesses already using RITA for other municipalities can simply add Springfield to their existing filings. Online and paper filing options are available.
RITA Website and Customer Service:
Taxpayers can find additional information and resources, including Welcome New Taxpayer and Welcome New Business pages, at www.ritaohio.com. Questions may be directed to RITA’s customer service line at (800) 860-7482.
